SANATKADA KA ADDA
Sanatkada ka Adda is an intimate cultural space run by the Sanatkada Weaves & Crafts shop. Among the
vivid reds, yellow, blues and greens of textiles and crafts we have had some amazing sessions from restoring
the tradition of Baithaks (small gatherings) where people enjoy musical performances to book readings,
sessions of poetry (English, Hindi & Urdu), weekly storytelling and programs for children. If one could peek
into the Adda’s activities, one could hear ghazals by the late Shanti Hiranand, a classical music Baithak, book
releases, Bait Baazi (antakshari in Urdu couplets).
The space also has had a recent incarnation with performances, lectures and tours of the historical city of
Lucknow being done online in the last six months.
Naimatkhana is the only concept restaurant of its kind that specialises in Awadhi home-cooked food experiences in the city of Lucknow. The recipes and the food are sourced from master home-chefs all over Lucknow, who have perfected these recipes over generations and are willing to share these otherwise inaccessible delights with people other than their family members. Unlike the street food that Lucknow is famous for, the food served here is cooked home-style, with subtle flavours and using the best available ingredients - the kind we would happily serve to our own families. In its post-COVID avatar, the restaurant is now available for exclusive bookings where you do not share the seating space with any other guests while you are there. The seating style takes inspiration from a traditional Lakhnavi drawing room and is aesthetically appointed with authentic antiques. Whoever you want to share a good meal and a good time with, we have the right options for you. Customised menu options are available for family meal outings, couples, small get togethers or parties and events.
Films of different genres be it world cinema, Hollywood, or the Mumbai film industry and documentaries were screened on every first and third Tuesday of every month for a decade. Interactions with the filmmaker and discussions would often follow the screening,
LUCKNOW BIOSCOPE
The Lucknow city museum is a first of its kind initiative to explore, preserve and celebrate Lucknow’s rich
cultural heritage. It seeks to move beyond clichéd perceptions to view the city from a renewed perspective,
tell a story grounded in both the extraordinary and every day, the past and its reflection in the present,
highlight its people, communities, art, music, cuisine, crafts, homes, literature, and poetry. This dynamic and
interactive space, both real and virtual in the future will feature exhibits, performances, lectures, guided tours
and home-cooked food to offer visitors an immersive experience of Lukhnaviyat – the tangible and intangible
qualities that are the spirit of Lucknow. The museum is a project of Sanatkada Trust and we look forward to
all Lucknowwallas contributing to it and making it a real people’s museum.
